I've always loved making things. As a child I was happiest with a package of colored markers. In high school I took every possible art class--ceramics, calligraphy, silk screen, photography, and was editor of the yearbook.

At the University of Oregon, I shifted to a different love, writing, and majored in English, knowing art would always be a hobby. After graduating, I worked for two food companies, creating promotional materials and expanding into PR and marketing. This is where I was exposed to the wonderful world of computer design. I was occasionally asked to draw something for inclusion in a packaging design, which I would do by hand, then the designers would scan my artwork. I then began to draw on the computer and learn the ins and outs of packaging design. Eventually I WAS the packaging design department.

After my second son was born, I started my freelance business. I've had the good fortune to be able to focus on home and family but keep active designing on the side. My favorite projects are designing logos and wedding invitations--I love the challenge of creating visual representations of clients' businesses and infusing couples' personalities into their wedding invitations.

In addition to art and design, I love sports, fitness, boating, hiking and biking, cooking and spending time with my husband, kids and dog. And reading...and knitting...and sewing...and colored markers.
